Every year there is this wonderful day in September called Grandparents Day. Each year we try to do something with my parents to celebrate our love for them. Sometimes it's a gift, sometimes and a meal out, an adventure out because they love them as much as we do, or anything else that just speaks to us that year.

This past Sunday we spent the day with my parents for Grandparents Day. We decided on a day out adventure along the Kancamagus Highway that runs from Lincoln NH to Conway NH. It's a beautiful scenic drive with tons of look out spots, historic places and trails galore. Although this year we didn't do any trails because my mother recently had knee replacement surgery and my psoriatic arthritis was in full flare that day.
We started the day off with gifts they loved - "I'd rather be un Alaska" themed goodies for my mom and a Bampa canvas for my stepdad (all items made by us), then began our trip to the Kancamagus which was a good 3 hours away from my house. That drive seemed to take forever lol.
Once we finally got to Lincoln NH to start our adventure we found a couple less populated pull offs to stop, explore and take some pictures. Five out of the seven there that day have weaked immune systems so we have to take extra precautions (some may say a bit extreme) due to COVID-19.
My two sisters and my two kids rock hopped along the middle of a river so far I was worried they'd cross a state line or something jeez. They had fun though so all is well. Then we found a gorgeous pull out spot to stop and take family pictures and enjoy the view. We noticed a van conversions next to us but didn't get to say hi, so if that was you, sorry about out craziness. We even shocked a truckload of people while taking a sisters picture. My sister Krystal decided to moon everyone while standing behind me and my sister Amber'le. Sadly a lady in the truck saw the scenic lookout sign and started a video just in time to roll up on my sisters booty 🤣 I feel bad but also wonder if that video will go viral one day.
We stopped at a couple more lookout spots before coming across an old historical homestead. The Russell-Colbath Homestead built in 1832. The barn was absolutely beautiful! Arianna is actually going to be using this location as an assignment for her architecture class and recreating it. The location consisted of a barn, home, cemetery, garden and trails.
Next up was lunch time, we all brought coolers full to have a picnic lunch. After eating we continued on our way and found a covered bridge we have been searching for*. That was a nice treat. My truck was too heavy to drive across it but I did get to take a couple pictures to document our visit.
*For those that don't know we are trying to see every covered bridge in each state before they no longer exist. We are almost done with NH.

The rest of our trip was driving. We overall had a blast. It may not seem like much to some but it made their day and we will forever have these memories!
