Fall traditions

This past Saturday I decided to surprise the kids with a visit to a local orchard near us. We hadn't visited this place before even though I have driven by it several times. When you drive by all see is a huge hill with a winding dirt road leading up and a sign saying there is an orchard. Nothing fancy to draw you in.

Alyson's Orchard however doesn't need something to draw you in. All you have to do is drive up the hill and you will see why it's so great.

According to their website https://alysonsorchard.com/

Alyson’s Orchard is a unique, 450 acre working orchard and year-round wedding and event facility in the heart of historic New England.
Located in Walpole, NH along the Connecticut River Valley, Alyson’s Orchard offers the best family apple picking experience in the region. Enjoy quality time with your friends and family as you walk through this picturesque orchard, filling your bags along the way with the delicious fruits we have to offer.  Stop by our farm stand where you will discover a wide variety of locally made products. Let the kids enjoy the playground, visit the goats or play a game of bocce ball on our nearby courts. Alyson’s Orchard is more than a pick-your-own orchard; it’s a family tradition..

Everywhere we looked there we apple trees, I have never seen so many before. It wasn't until after our visit that I found out it was 450 acres! The kids and I were awestruck. We got in line to get our bag for apple picking and ventured off to the front area to explore and pick some apples.

We had so much fun! We found new types of apples we didn't even know existed like Ginger Gold which is yellow and tastes really good and sweet, Fuji which is red, Honeycrisp which is another red one, Lady which are smaller sized red/green and supposed to be tart and Mutsu (which we all thought was a funny name) its greenish and super sweet tasting.

After we filled our bag and took some pictures we headed back towards my truck to our bag away. Then we decided to check out what's out back behind the buildings we parked near.

Right behind the buildings there are even more apple trees, a large pond with a picnic area and some white geese that were enjoying the beautiful day and taking a nap as well as beautiful views.

By the time we left, I had reached my step goal for the day, the kids were tuckered out and this Mama needed a nap.

Do you have any fall traditions you do alone or with family? What are they?
